MORE INSPIRATION

Whats My Inspiration?

ATTITUDE                               ROCK 'N' ROLL                URBAN                        BACK IN TIME

ATTITUDE -  This will be expressed through body language, facial expressions which says a lot in a picture, attitude can be express through the eyes, giving a sense of fierceness.

ROCK 'N' ROLL -  This will be expressed through clothing/make-up/hair.  As an appearance says a lot about someone in a picture. The rocky look can be easily translated in a picture. Which will suit the theme of 'London Calling' well.

URBAN -  This will be expressed by scenery/surroundings/background in the album cover, for example an urban surrounding could be a dark, graffitied alley that will expand on the theme of rock n roll.

BACK IN TIME - This will mainly be expressed through the styling of the clothing, as the clothing will basically be an 'old school rocker look', rock tee's, doc martins etc.
Where is my shoot going to be set?

As my shoot is based on the city of London, i'll either be basing my shoot against a simple backdrop which will give me a chance to express photography in another way which can be done by the use of photoshop, which can work extremely effectively.

KEY WORDS - ATTITUDE, QUIRKY, EDGY.

The Clash - Biography
(Wikepedia)

The Clash were an English punk rock band that formed in 1976 as part of the original wave of British punk. Along with punk, their music incorporated elements of reggaeskadub, funkrapdance, and rockabilly. For most of their recording career, The Clash consisted ofJoe Strummer (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Mick Jones (lead guitar, vocals), Paul Simonon(bass guitar, backing vocals, occasional lead vocals) and Nicky "Topper" Headon (drums, percussion). Headon left the group in 1982, and internal friction led to Jones's departure the following year. The group continued with new members, but finally disbanded in early 1986.
The Clash achieved commercial success in the United Kingdom with the release of their debut album, The Clash, in 1977. Their third album, London Calling, released in the UK in December 1979, brought them popularity in the United States when it came out there the following month. Critically acclaimed, it was declared the best album of the 1980s a decade later by Rolling Stone magazine.[1]
The Clash's politicized lyrics, musical experimentation and rebellious attitude had a far-reaching influence on rock, alternative rock in particular.[2] They became widely referred to as "The Only Band That Matters", originally a promotional slogan introduced by the group's record label, CBS. In January 2003, the band—including original drummer Terry Chimes—were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. In 2004, Rolling Stone ranked The Clash number 30 on their list of the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time
Idea 1 For Shoot

When analysing my shoot I came across the idea of using body paint to represent London in a different way in my series of pictures. To do this the body paint will have to look effective as it will be the main focus in the shot.

I.E. -

In addition to that, I was unsure whether to include iconic landmarks in the background to include a slight similarity yet contrast to the album cover.

INSPIRATION

With my shoot being based on the city of London, i've came across a few ideas that may add to the effectiveness of my shoot, which are relevant and well known - and could have the right look on the album cover.

Will I use photoshop to make my shoot look more professional?

I will be using photoshop once i've finished my shoot, this will be to add a more quirky and edgy feel to my album cover.

The iconic red bus.

The London Eye.

The well known Telephone boxes.

Londons main use of transport.

Finalised Ideas For Shoot

What will my theme be?
As my shoot is based on 'London Calling' I'll be focusing on the importance and boldness of the beauty city, possibly including landmarks along with a model to capture that edgy spark i'm opting for.

What details will I include?
As i'll be using a model in this shoot she'll be suited well with the theme of the album cover, as i'm going to make sure she looks like the traditional london woman with a touch of quirkiness to her style.

LONDON CALLING

London Calling is the third studio album by the English punk rock band The Clash. It was released in the United Kingdom on 14 December 1979 through CBS Records, and in the United States in January 1980 through Epic Records. The album represented a change in The Clash's musical style, which featured elements of ska, pop, soul, jazz, rockabilly and reggae more prominently than before. The album's subject matter included unemployment, racial conflict, drug use, and the responsibilities of adulthood.
The album received unanimously positive reviews and was ranked at number eight on Rolling Stone's list of The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time in 2003. London Calling was a top ten album in the UK, and its lead single "London Calling" was a top 20 single. It has sold over two million copies worldwide, and was certified platinum in the United States.    -   WIKEPEDIA

London calling to the faraway towns
Now war is declared - and battle come down
London calling to the underworld
Come out of the cupboard, you boys and girls
London calling, now don't look to us
Phoney Beatlemania has bitten the dust
London calling, see we ain't got no swing
'Cept for the ring of that truncheon thing

CHORUS
The ice age is coming, the sun's zooming in
Meltdown expected, the wheat is growing thin
Engines stop running, but I have no fear
Cause London is drowning and I, live by the river

London calling to the imitation zone
Forget it, brother, you can go at it alone
London calling to the zombies of death
Quit holding out - and draw another breath
London calling - and I don't wanna shout
But while we were talking I saw you *running out
London calling, see we ain't got no high
Except for that one with the yellowy eyes

CHORUS x2
The ice age is coming, the sun's zooming in
Engines stop running, the wheat is growing thin
A nuclear error, but I have no fear
Cause London is drowning and I, I live by the river

Now get this
London calling, yes, I was there, too
An' you know what they said? Well, some of it was true!
London calling at the top of the dial
And after all this, won't you give me a smile?
London Calling

I never felt so much alive, alive, alive...
